Under the Sea!

This week we read a story called Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae. It was great fun and we learned about the sea creatures who inhabit the deep dark waters of the ocean. We studied the rhyming patterns in the story and realised that our hard work in jolly phonics really helps us to sound out these rhyming words. We listened to a song about a mermaid called Ariel, who thought life would be better on land!
In Art we created a whole host of sea creatures including octopus/crab/dolphin/whale/stingray/shark/seahorse and more. We have created our own version of Commotion in the Ocean and divided the creatures into the various parts of the ocean where they live.

We learned about the seasons, the days of the week and we talked a lot about position words which help us to describe the location of objects: behind/in front/between/over/under/on and in.
We finished our Spring books and the children had lovely pages full of Spring words and lovely drawings. We planted cress seeds and we hope that they will grow well over the mid-term break, with plenty of water, light, the right soil and fresh air!
Enjoy the holidays!
