Art Attack Yesterday we went art crazy in 4th class. We did so many brilliant art activities. The first activity was to design and build a huge Crannóg. A Crannóg was a house built in a lake during the Celtic times. It was built in water to keep it safe from attackers. We used clay, sand, stones and sticks to make the Crannóg. More Book Week Visitors in First Class!

We had a fantastic week last week in First Class celebrating books and reading. We even had some special guests who came to read to us. Pirate John read us a cool story about Adam the pirate, he really showed us how to use our voices to make stories exciting. Fashion Show
This week in 4th class we were doing a fashion show for our assembly. We had lots of different outfits and designs. We had newspaper dresses, pyjamas, cd outfits, JEDWARD and much more. Junk Kouture
Junk Kouture This week Tia’s aunt Jenny Boyd visited our school. Jenny entered the Junk Kouture competition last year and did really well. She designed a dress made entirely from recyclable materials such as newspapers, tinfoil, magazines, etc. Her dress was so good that she was invited to the London premier of Hugo the movie. Senior Infant bird watchers!

This week we have been very busy looking at some of the changes that happen in springtime. We went on a nature walk around our school garden and saw all the daffodils in bloom - last week they were only very small plants that we had to be careful not to stand on! Crannógs!!!
THE CRANNÓG This week in fourth class we have been learning about crannógs. We learned about the structure of a crannóg. We made it out of clay, sand, pebbles and sticks. First of all we got a cereal box, cut it up so it was flat and then we covered it with tinfoil. Then we put on pebbles with glue and next we put on clay and built it to look like a wall around it. Student Council Trip to Portlaoise Educate Together N.S.

Last October the Student Council from Portlaoise Educate Together came to visit our school to learn about the roles and responsibilities of a Student Council. On Monday 27th we paid a return visit to Portlaoise where we were greeted by some members of the Student Council and their teacher Darach when we stepped off the bus. NETNS School Garden – Update and Invitation to help

On Tuesday we made a start on the NETNS school garden! We'd like to say a huge thank you to all the children, parents and staff who helped by lending a hand. The children did a brilliant job marking out the first four beds. With parental help, they also dug up the turf and helped make the beds ready for planting.
