5th class

This week in 5th class we are doing projects on Africa, we split into groups of twos and we picked lots of countries like Mozambique, The Ivory Coast and Madagascar. We also went swimming this week and had great fun learning how to swim faster. We had races with 6th and 5th girls and boys. We’ve read Under the Hawthorn Tree by Marita Conlon-McKenna. NETNS Book Fair 2012

The Annual Celtic Travelling Book Fair will be arriving at the N.E.T.N.S. library on Wednesday March 7th. As always the Book Fair will have a fantastic selection of books for children of all ages and any money spent at the Book Fair automatically earns commission from sales which allows the school to buy books for the school library. The response to the first NETNS website header competition has been absolutely fantastic,  we received lots of wonderful entries and it was a very tough job deciding which was the winning entry!   On the 31st of January 2012 we attended a tournament to play an excellent game called Spikeball. We have been training and learning about the sport for weeks in preparation for the tournament. It took place in Athy College. The rules of the game are simple. Its similar to volleyball therefore it would take place on a volleyball court. There are 6 on the team but only four on the court. School will finish at 1.55pm on Tuesday and Wednesday (31st January & 1st February) next week to facilitate some of the progress meetings which are taking place.
